New Church for Tasmanian Apostolate Purchased

The SSPX has offered a monthly Mass in private homes and hired venues in Tasmania for over 30 years.  Recently the apostolate has increased to Sunday Mass every two weeks. For the long-term stability and the future expansion of the apostolate, an SSPX chapel was vital.

By God’s grace and through the generosity of the faithful, we found a property that met our needs. The Church property is in East Devonport, Tasmania,  (10 minutes from Devonport airport and 1 hour from Launceston Airport). This 2,448m2 property has an existing church building and a parish hall.  The property was sold with all furniture and furnishings included (pews, etc.).

This property was attractive to the SSPX in Tasmania because it will provide for the long-term future of our apostolate there. The church building is of an adequate size (gross floor area of 143m2) and in excellent condition. The parish hall is also very apt for our purposes (gross floor area of 243m2) and includes kitchen facilities. It is currently divided into two large rooms, and there are two toilets.  It was such a great help to purchase a church property like this which is already provided with furniture and furnishings.

On Sunday 25th May, Fr Themann will bless the new church at 9 AM followed by Holy Mass.
